Kelsey & Ian

Ahhh, Spring in North Texas.  Today I ventured out to the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano for some engagement photos.  I finally got the chance to do a spring session at sunset with just about the cutest couple you’ve ever met.  Kelsey and Ian are all giggles and jokes.  You really can feel the love between these two.  I was fortunate enough to be able to catch a few tender moments when they were not making each other crack up.

The weather was warm and SUPER windy.  Even in spite of the wind, we managed to get the best shots at the precise second that the wind would die down.  Timing is everything; from the timing of the sunlight to the patience needed for a break from a heavy breeze.  I love a challenge and I wouldn’t have traded today’s weather for anything!MELTON MELTON-2 MELTON-3

Texas winter family portraits

Last weekend, Mike and I ventured out to Central Park in Frisco to do a photo shoot for a family looking to create a timeless anniversary gift for the grandparents’ 50th (fifty years! wow) wedding anniversary.  Julie and her sister Jennifer wanted this year’s gift to their parents to be a bit more extraordinary, so they did the right thing by planning this special day.  The sun was shining and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky.  I used the sun to my advantage in a lot of the photos and of course, as per usual Sarah style, I used my extra light to make the portraits in the shade look a little more awesome.

Since the weather last weekend was near perfect, (65 degrees and no wind) the family was super comfortable in their attire.  The Dallas/Fort Worth area saw some pretty frigid 20-30 degree weather starting Tuesday lasting throughout the week.  We were super fortunate to have beaten the impending cold front.

I had a lot of fun doing this family’s shoot especially because there were five people.  I had the opportunity to do a lot of different variations of groups.  Being creative with different breakdowns of who to pose together is my favorite part of a photo shoot.  Julie’s boys were especially fun because they both have killer smiles and were not camera shy at ALL.  For anyone doubtful of doing a wintertime Texas photo shoot:  it’s totally doable!

Happy Holidays

Our second Christmas together as a married couple sure is starting off nicely.  We bought a pre-lit tree this year and the setup was a breeze!  I snapped a few shots after we pulled out our decorations and trimmed the tree.

I hope you all have a lovely holiday season!  Stay in touch!!

Friends Photo Shoot

Today I went to River Legacy Park in Arlington, Texas to photograph three friends: Kelsey, Lauren and Victoria.  I brought Mike along to assist, and it couldn’t have gone any smoother.

Kelsey first asked me about doing a photo shoot with her and two friends over Thanksgiving weekend, because her friend, Victoria was home for just a short while.  Victoria is in the Air Force and doesn’t get much time with Kelsey and Lauren.  They arrived in matching shirts and adorable smiles.  I couldn’t have picked three better models for this shoot.  At almost 70 degrees, the weather was absolutely perfect for our shoot.  I hope these three girls and my camera get together again someday!  🙂FRIENDS-2 FRIENDS-3 FRIENDS-4 FRIENDS-5 FRIENDS-6 FRIENDS

Fall pet portrait session 2013

Today, I broke out my dusty camera and got to work on one of my favorite jobs:  Pet photos!

I am fortunate enough to work at a wonderful doggy daycare in Plano called Doggie Zen Den http://www.doggiezenden.com/ and we have a wonderful set of clients who not only love their dogs so very much, but are also just the best clients anyone could ask for.

The theme was fall photos and all of the dogs were super cute.  My husband came along to help upload photos and assist with snapping the perfect shot.  By the end of the day, we were super tired but had such a good time capturing the faces that their families so love.  Some of the dogs responded best to a squeaky toy while others just wanted a cookie.  We were prepared to do whatever it took.  How’d we get them to hold still?  I can’t give away all of my secrets now, can I? Web_Uploads-101

The French Collection

While visiting my dad, I finally got to meet his new puppy, Lincoln.  He and his wife just added Lincoln to their doggy family in 2011.

I spent one afternoon rolling around on the floor with all three dogs and had a great time capturing them from their level.  Wrigley, the oldest, even got a bit spunky for the camera.  Turns out he was excited to express himself.

Franklin, the middle child, was calm and collected.  He wanted to be taken seriously so badly for this photo shoot.

Lincoln was…well, lets say I managed to get a few of him in action and that’s all he’d allow for the day.

Maureen & Bill’s Grapevine engagement shoot

Last weekend, I had the great pleasure of doing engagement photos for two very dear friends of ours:  Maureen and Bill.  They were here visiting us in Texas and I couldn’t help but think of how unique their pictures would be if I did them in a precious little Texas town.  I immediately thought of Grapevine.  There’s so much character in the buildings and this time of year is so beautiful that it all came together and made the perfect picture taking day.

After we were finished, I knew these photos would be something so special for the two of them.  I cannot wait to see them take that next step toward their future.  Cheers to Maureen and Bill!

Welcome!

Hello everyone and welcome to my website.

This is my first blog post and I don’t have a whole lot to write about at this moment, as I’m still constructing the website to it’s most awesome potential.  I do have a few shoots that I’ve done recently that will be getting added to my site just as soon as I’m finished with them.  Be sure to check back and see how they went!
